Monkeying Around

Apparently monkeys were popular this weekend, I had two events both asking for monkey cupcakes.  One was for our amazing friends' little girl's birthday party.  Meredith is absolutely fabulous so the cupcakes just HAD to match.  I made Banana Cupcakes (filled with banana pudding, topped with cream cheese frosting, crushed nilla wafers and little banana candies), Chocolate & Vanilla Cupcakes (topped with pink almond buttercream and little fondant monkeys) and a little cake for the Birthday Girl - Chocolate of course!

The second event was a baby shower hosted by an old friend of mine from childhood.  The mom-to-be requested moneys, bears and muffins for decoration.  So, I made Lemon Poppyseed Cupcakes (filled with a lemon curd and topped with cream cheese frosting), & Chocolate Cupcakes (topped with lime and blue almond buttercream)  The toppers were fondant monkeys, and mini sugar cookies in the shapes of muffins and bears and topped with more buttercream.  The lemon ones are my personal favorites!
