Fancy, Frilly, Girly Cakes

Baby Shower Cake for a sweet baby girl - serves 10-15

My daughter is obsessed with leopard print right now, so this was for her birthday party.  Flower, pendant and purse handle were done in gum paste, cake was covered in homemade fondant, and bottom tier was hand painted in leopard print.  Bottom tier - peanut butter cup cake, Middle and Top tier - chocolate cake, oreo buttercream

My first attempt at hand painted leopard print

A sweet birthday cake for a sweet princess!  Crown, wand and #3 were made from gum paste.

My little Maya turned 4 yesterday - so here was her Tinkerbell cake!  The tink is actually a candle.  Flowers & leaves are gumpaste and fondant.  Cake is covered in whipped vanilla buttercream.  This cake was so much fun for me - and tasted yummy too!

Blue Velvet cake, covered with teal vanilla buttercream roses and little white sprinkles.  Yummiest cake ever!

Happy "Half-Birthday"!

I had a very cool request this last week to make a "half-birthday" cake for a friend's daughter.  I was SO excited to do this cake.  I think it turned out pretty cool.

Hot pink and zebra were the only specific requests...I love how it came out!  My 5 year old had the idea of adding the little balls on the top too - I think it was a great idea!

Here's the front.  Really loved doing this cake - it was a bit challenging structurally and I love a challenge.  I also LOVE doing zebra stripes!

Welcome Babies!

Lots of babies being born lately - which means lots of cupcakes and cakes being baked :-)
Here are a few of the ones I've done lately.

Vanilla Cupcakes, Vanilla Buttercream and little chocolate flower toppers - all in blue, green and pink
I found these little colored pearl candies that inspired the color choices for these cupcakes.  I just HAD to have them :)

Please forgive the terrible picture - it was late and I was too tired to stage it.
Baby Shower Cake based on the baby's bedding - all in buttercream.  I find it much more difficult when making a cake entirely out of buttercream.  I actually prefer working with fondant.

Side view of the baby bedding cake.  I had tried about 10 different designs on the side until I found the one I wanted to go with, so the white buttercream underneath got a bit messed up.  But I still think it turned out cute - those are little ladybugs made from homemade fondant.

I was pretty happy with how the flower turned out :-)

Baby Shower Cake - Flower and Dots

This baby shower cake was inspired by baby's bedding set.  9", four layer cake decorated entirely in buttercream.
